Lefke Kapı

The city's eastern gate closely resembles İstanbul Kapı; a precise date for either gate has not been established. At the outer entrance, a rectangular gate formed by thick marble columns stands between two cylindrical towers. On the left, there is a spolia frieze with densely carved human figures.

The inscription above the central gate arch states that the city walls were commissioned in the name of Emperor Hadrian, under the supervision of Cassius. With structures added in the Byzantine period, the courtyard was enclosed and the corridor-shaped passage seen today was formed.
