Böcek Ayazma Kilisesi

The 6th-century Byzantine structure was initially built as a baptistery and later used as a sacred spring. It lies east of Koimesis Kilisesi. From the garden behind the street-level wall and iron-barred gate, it is reached from the west by an eleven-step staircase.

The underground space is 4.5 meters in diameter, 3.8 meters high, and has a brick dome. The walls are built in alternating courses of rubble stone, brick, and lime mortar. Greek and Hebrew inscriptions are found on the marble edge stones of the cistern.
