    Description

It was commissioned by Süleyman Paşa, son of Orhan Gazi, in the 14th century; because it has no inscription, its precise date is unknown, with approximately 1332 and the range 1335-1359 proposed. It is regarded as the first madrasa founded in the Ottoman period. It consists of eleven cells, a classroom, and a courtyard with arcades.

The structure was restored and arranged to sustain the traditional art of İznik tile, and began operating as the Tilemakers' Bazaar. It contains nine craft workshops producing ceramics; İznik tile production can be observed, instruction is offered, and handmade products are sold.

Visit note: It is stated that no separate admission fee is charged for the madrasa and that the workshops and stores can be visited freely; it is reported that some workshops may operate with limited hours in winter and that credit cards are not accepted. There is a café in the courtyard.
