Abdülvahap Tepesi

This is a place of visitation on a hill overlooking the town, east of İznik. The grave of a standard-bearer named Abdülvahap, believed to have died as a martyr in İznik between 717 and 740, when Islamic armies' campaigns in Anatolia continued, is here. It is also known as Bayraklı Dede because visitors hang flags there.

Views of the İznik settlement, the lake, and its surroundings can be seen from the hill; it is described as a lookout hill at an elevation of approximately 100-150 meters. It is used for photography, picnics, and nature walks, and can be climbed on foot.
