İznik Gölü

The lake, historically known as Askania, is Turkey's fifth-largest lake; it has a surface area of 298 square kilometers and an elevation of 85 meters, and its depth increases from north to south, reaching 65 meters. The freshwater lake contains catfish, levkit, yellow carp, and silverfish.

The shore includes the İzzet Peşte Water Sports Facility, the Çakırca Köyü shore, and the area containing the submerged basilica. Water sports such as sailing, canoeing, and rowing can be practiced. On equinox dates, the view of the sun setting into the lake through the pass between the mountains can be observed.

Visit note: No entry restriction for shore access has been reported; a travel source states that the lake is open to visitors every day of the year. There is no fee or hours information.
